Evangelium Luc 12:35-40

Gospel Luke 12:35-40
At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)

The Lord says: “Your hips are girded and the lamps are lit in your hands.”

Today we remember Edward, known as the Confessor (1002 – 1066) was the penultimate King of the Anglo-Saxons and King of England of the Anglo-Saxon dynasty. Catholic faithful the pope in Rome, this saint stood out for his charity and meekness.

Teresa Higginson says that England will return to the Catholic faith asking forgiveness for the serious sins this people has stained. The persecution against the cattle lasted for about 300 years in England. But the Catholics resisted even without having their own bishop.

Even in Iceland, Protestants have massacred Christians since 1500. Iceland has been Protestant for centuries. Only one Catholic family remained there for twenty years!

We in Italy have not suffered such strong persecution. But we have known a devious persecution from Satan. Whoever persevered in the faith will have won it! In 1917 the apparitions of of Fatima ended with the miracle of the sun. So we just have to persevere to see the sun of victory again!

Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
