DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Il sabato e’ dedicato alla nostra Mamma Celeste.
Oggi ricordiamo Santa Edvige di Andechs (1174 –1243) fu duchessa di Slesia e Polonia e, rimasta vedova, divenne monaca cistercense a Trzebnica. Una delle grandi sante di Polonia (visse dopo San Francesco).
Diede esempio di grande sollecitudine nei confronti dei suoi sudditi più poveri ed ammalati (baciava le piaghe dei lebbrosi) per i quali fece erigere numerosi ospizi: nel 1202 fondò il monastero cistercense di Trzebnica e, rimasta vedova (1238), decise di ritirarvisi.
La sua vita e’ stata una continua ricerca del tesoro rappresentato dal regno dei cieli. Il campo prezioso per lei era il ritiro spirituale nella clausura.
Il regno dei cieli e’ simile a una perla preziosa. La vita cristiana e’ una conquista, dopo una ricerca attenta dell’ispirazione divina.
L’ultima fase e’ il nostro giudizio personale e quello universale.
Vedremo il pianto e lo stridore dei denti per quelli tra noi che hanno perso il tesoro prezioso che era alla nostra portata.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Saturday is dedicated to our Heavenly Mother.
Today we remember Saint Hedwig of Andechs (1174 –1243) was Duchess of Silesia and Poland and, after being widowed, became a Cistercian nun in Trzebnica. One of the great saints of Poland (she lived after St. Francis).
She gave an example of great solicitude towards his poorest and sickest subjects (he kissed the wounds of lepers) for whom he built numerous hospices: in 1202 he founded the Cistercian monastery of Trzebnica and, being widowed (1238), decided to retire there.
Her life was a continuous search for the treasure represented by the kingdom of heaven.
The precious field for her was the spiritual retreat in the cloister. The kingdom of heaven is like a precious pearl.
Christian life is an achievement, after a careful search for divine inspiration.
The last phase is our personal and universal judgment. We will see the weeping and gnashing of teeth for those of us who have lost the precious treasure that was within our reach.
