Evangelium Ioannes 4:46-53
In illo témpore: Erat quidam régulus, cuius fílius infirmabátur Caphárnaum.

Gospel John 4:46-53
At that time, there was a certain royal official whose son was lying sick at Capharnaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and besought Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus therefore said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you do not believe. The royal official said to Him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said to him, Go your way, your son lives. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and departed. But even as he was now going down, his servants met him and brought word saying that his son lived. He asked of them therefore the hour in which he had got better. And they told him, Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him. The father knew then that it was at that very hour in which Jesus had said to him, Your son lives. And he himself believed, and his whole household.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)

Jesus said to him: Unless you see miracles and wonders, you do not believe. The ruler (royal dignitary) answered him: Come, Lord, before my son dies. Jesus said to him, Go, your son lives.

That man believed in the words of Jesus and left. (It was the seventh hour). It is an episode that can teach us a lot. The royal official sees the possibility in Jesus to save his son. Jesus was followed by people who always expected new miracles from Jesus.

But Jesus reproaches them. We always pursue these prodigious signs. We always look forward to extraordinary help. There are indeed these signs. But this expectation of ours is not commendable.

We do not have to constantly ask Jesus for His intervention. Our faith must not be based on constant miracles. But even the royal official’s faith is not perfect. He insists and hurries the Lord. But Jesus replies: from now on your son is fine!

The physical presence of the Lord is not necessary! We must have faith in the Lord: even if we do not know it, the Lord has already intervened! We must therefore go a long way to have mature faith. In these times, faith is essential. All human securities will fall one after the other! Only our faith will remain!

The triennial synod begins today. The Church of Christ does not exist in the Vatican, but today the three-year synod begins in which they want to dismantle what is left of the Church. But it doesn’t concern us.

Our church is not the false church! But the Lord will not allow this new challenge! Christ will intervene first!

We cannot accept this false Church! We must have faith in the return of Christ!

Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
