Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. Dobbiamo tenerci pronti. Non sappiamo quando verra’ il giudizio di Dio su quello che facciamo, diciamo pensiamo. Verremo a confronto con la Verita’ in persona. Allora tutto sara chiaro!
Oggi si festeggia Raimondo Nonnato (perche’ nato dalla madre morta). (1200/1204 – Cardona, 31 agosto 1240), fu un religioso spagnolo appartenuto all’Ordine mercedario, secondo una tradizione poco sicura divenuto anche cardinale; è venerato come santo dalla Chiesa cattolica.
Ormai mercedario, intraprese diversi viaggi per riscattare prigionieri e convertire i pagani. In una di queste missioni ad Algeri, si offrì come ostaggio al posto di un prigioniero. Poiché in prigione continuava a predicare e a convertire musulmani, la tradizione racconta che le guardie, per impedirglielo, forarono le sue labbra e le chiusero con un lucchetto. Riusci miracolosamente a sopravvivere. Ma intrapreso il viaggio finale verso Roma, mori in cammino.

The Lord says: Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he arrives, will find awake.
We have to get ready. We do not know when God’s judgment will come on what we do, say and think. We will come face to face with the Truth in person. Then everything will be clear!
Today we celebrate Raimondo Nonnato (because he was born from his dead mother). (1200/1204 – Cardona, 31 August 1240), was a Spanish religious who belonged to the Mercedary Order, according to an unsafe tradition, who also became a cardinal; he is revered as a saint by the Catholic Church.
Now a mercedary, he undertook several journeys to redeem prisoners and convert the pagans. On one of these missions to Algiers, he offered himself as a hostage in place of a prisoner. Since in prison he continued to preach and convert Muslims, tradition says that the guards, to prevent him, pierced his lips and closed them with a padlock.
He miraculously managed to survive. But having embarked on the final journey to Rome, he died on the way.
