Our Lady of Good Success, Queen of Quito
On January 16, 1599 the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) appeared to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres in the convent of the Immaculate Conception in Quito, Ecuador, asking to have a marble statue be sculpted which portrayed her like in her first apparition, namely with baby Christ on her left arm and a pastoral carrying the keys of the monastry in her right hand. Our Lady the BVM carries the pastoral to show that she herself is governing the monastry. Furthermore, the Madonna asked that the statue be set on a superior position with respect to the seat of the abbess. This happened miracuously on February 2, 1611 when, in front of the abbess, the angels carried the statue and set it exactly where it stays today. Later in the same day it was consecrated by the bishop of Quito with the title “Mary of the Good Success of the Purification”.
In the course of several apparitions received by M. Mariana until her death occurred on January 16, 1635 Our Lady of Good Success predicted in detail the evil events of our present time.
